- Work slowdown.
- Lack of friendly discussion among employees.
- Anger and arguments among staff.
- Staff leaving exactly at quitting time.
- Increased sick days.
- Sabotage.
- Vandalism.
If so, you need to correct the problem before key players leave without notice!
A team is only as good as it’s weakest members. Sales could be doing a wonderful job, but one cranky Customer Service person can send a lot of customers looking elsewhere.
By the time we are called in, management knows something is wrong. Usually business has fallen off and things are not running as smoothly as before. Some people may have quit without notice or reason. The work areas are either emotionally cold or there is a heavy feeling of stress.
My Approach
At first we ask a lot of questions. We want to hear from both management and the worker bees. That is the only way we can deliver a balanced approach to correcting problems. Next we sit down with management and reveal the results of the polling. This will allow us to devise a plan to solve the most important problems first.
During the last quarter of 2009 about five different studies indicated similar results. They showed that between 50% and 70% of current workers are planning to make a job change at the first safe opportunity. Most workers are feeling overworked and under appreciated; but they are also afraid of being caught looking elsewhere. Most need their salary to live and pay their bills. They hate their job, but feel that unemployment is even worse. One person actually said, “my boss probably wouldn’t notice if I died at their desk, until my body started to smell. They just don’t care.”
What would be the impact, if you lost key players without notice?
This could happen if you are unable to improve the atmosphere at work!
